HEAT PUMP FOR POOLS – extend your summer indefinitely

Some people are inclined to think that pool heaters are just an unnecessary luxury, but if you're really into swimming, they can allow you to use your pool almost all year round. A heat pump for pools is an increasingly popular choice, as apart from its reliability in cool weather, it can save you quite a bit ...they are extremely efficient; a lot cheaper than other options such as gas or oil, they quietly get to work, are rust free, need little maintenance, and they come with an adjustable water temperature setting.

Their cost effectiveness is highlighted against solar heating too, because while solar relies on good weather to heat a pool, a heat pump for pools heats the water even on rainy, icy days.

How does a heat pump work?
The heat pump takes heat from one place and moves it to another.  The outside air heats a refrigerant in the heat pump that is further heated and compressed by a compressor. The hot gas goes to a heat exchanger where it releases the heat into the pool water. When sizing a heat pump for pools, it's important to get a unit that is large enough to heat the pool during it's run time.

The efficiency of a heat pump is measured by the co-efficient of performance (COP) which can range from 3.0-7.0 - the higher the number, the more efficient the pool heat pump. For every unit of electricity that you put in to run the compressor, you get 3-7 units of heat out.

You don't want your heat pump for pools installed by just anybody – it's important that the job gets done by a qualified professional, as proper installation and maintenance of your heat pump pool heater can optimize its efficiency. At SA Pools we advise our customers on all the features that they need ….and at an affordable price.
